2023 Works In Resin.
Pressed floral compositions over natural elements.
Spurred by a love for the geometric compositions of classic Hawaiian quilts, the natural world around our every day and my wife who inspires me to dream beyond my immediate vision; These compositions reach, in that way, beyond my floral work within surfboards; Reconnecting me to so much of the fine art I was surrounded with as a child.
This first collection is dedicated to the work of my father, Kent Lovelace, whom I watched paint a vision of the world around him in oil, often on roughed copper plates which are found in the two central pieces of this series.
Pressed ‘Ohi’a Lehua flowers laid over white Mother of Pearl.
